Is Job Umbrella free?

Yes. The Board is free. The AI tools (resume builder, resume customizer, job-title and job-board suggestions) give you a set number of free uses every day. No credit card. If you need more than the daily limit, you can add your own AI key (see below). A paid plan is planned as an option later.

Can I use my own AI key?

Yes, but most people never need to. An AI key is a long password that an AI company (such as Google) gives you for free when you register on their site. If you paste that key into Settings, Job Umbrella uses your account with that company instead of the shared free pool. The daily limit then no longer applies to you. We store the key scrambled (encrypted) and never show it again or send it to your browser. If that sounds like more than you want to handle, skip it. The free daily uses are enough for most job searches.

How does the AI resume builder work?

You build a profile, either by typing it in or by uploading a resume you already have. Job Umbrella then writes a resume from that profile that hiring software (ATS) can read. You can tailor that resume to a specific job description, so it uses the same key words as the posting. You can also pick a career level — entry-level, professional, or executive — that shapes the tone. Download it as a .docx or .pdf file.

Which browsers does the extension support?

Chrome and Firefox today. The extension captures a job posting from the page you are on and adds it to your Board with one click. A Safari version is planned.

Which job boards can I search?

The Find Jobs page builds prefilled searches for 12 job boards, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Monster, Dice, SimplyHired, Google Jobs, Wellfound, Built In, CareerBuilder, and We Work Remotely. Job Umbrella can also recommend which of those boards best fit your profile.

Do you sell my personal data?

No. We do not sell your personal data. You control your information, and you can export or delete it. Ads are not running yet. When they start, they will fund the free tier, and advertisers still will not see your resume or your applications. The Privacy Policy has the full detail, including where the ad code runs.

Can a case manager or coach see my job search?

Only if you choose to share it. You choose to share your job-search history with a case manager or a coach, and you can stop at any time. Tools for coaches and case managers to support their clients are on the roadmap.

Is my data secure?

Job Umbrella protects your account, isolates your data per user, and encrypts any AI key you give us. We use standard security headers and rate limiting across the app.
