Resumes
Create and customize your resume
Create a resume that hiring software (ATS) can read, tailor it to a specific job, choose a career level, and export to .docx or .pdf.
Job Umbrella turns your profile into resumes that hiring software (ATS) can read: a base version you reuse, and tailored versions aimed at specific jobs. Here is how to create, customize, and export them.
Generate a base resume
- Make sure your profile is filled in.
- Open Resumes and choose a career level — entry-level, professional, or executive.
- Click Generate from profile. The AI drafts an achievement-focused resume.
- The resume editor opens, where you can change any section by hand.
The career level changes the emphasis, tone, and length: entry-level leads with education and potential, professional is experience-forward, and executive highlights leadership and scope.
Customize a resume for a specific job
- Add the job to your Board with its full description (paste it into the Job description field, or capture it with the extension).
- Open that job and click Customize resume, choosing a career level.
- The AI rewrites your summary, your bullet points, and your skill order to mirror the keywords in the job, but only where you genuinely match. The result is saved and linked to that job.
- Read the Fit check that comes with it. It lists what the posting wants that your resume misses, and any claim that goes past your profile.
With a tailored resume saved, you can also generate a matching cover letter for that job.
Export to .docx or .pdf
From any resume, download it as a .docx or .pdf. Both use a single-column, ATS-safe layout with real, selectable text. The .docx is the safest default for most application portals.
Good to know
- The AI never invents an employer, a date, or a skill. It only reshapes what your profile holds.
- Each new resume or tailored version uses 1 free AI run from your daily allowance.
- A resume tailored to one posting beats one generic resume sent everywhere.
