AI features, free daily runs, and using your own AI key

The AI powers several Job Umbrella features: resume building, resume customizing, the Fit check, cover letters, resume import, and the job-title and job-board recommendations. Here is how the AI works and how to get more of it.

Your free daily allowance

Every account gets free AI runs each day, currently 15 per day. Each new resume, tailored version, cover letter, import, or recommendation uses 1 run. The count resets each day. Your remaining runs are shown in Settings.

Use your own AI key (BYOK) for unlimited use

Want more than the free daily runs right now? An AI key is a long password an AI company gives you for free when you sign up on their site. Add yours here:

1. Get a free key from a supported AI company. Google Gemini is the default, and Groq and others also work.
2. Open Settings and find the AI section.
3. Choose your provider and paste your key.
4. Save. With your own key, your AI use is no longer capped by the daily allowance.

Your key is encrypted at rest and never shown back to you or sent to your browser.

Privacy

When you use an AI feature, we send the relevant profile or resume text to an AI provider. That provider processes it under its own terms. Your own key changes who that provider is. With your key, your text goes to the company you picked, under your account with them, instead of through ours. If privacy is a priority, that choice is yours to make.

A paid plan is coming

A subscription is planned. It will raise the allowance without your own key, and it will remove ads, which removes the third-party ad code from your pages. Until then, the free daily runs plus your own key cover everything.
