AI features, free limits, and bring-your-own-key

Several Job Umbrella features are powered by AI: résumé building, résumé customizing, résumé import, and job-title and job-board recommendations. Here’s how the AI works and how to get more of it.

Your free daily allowance

Every account gets a free daily allowance of AI generations (currently 15 per day). Each résumé generation, customization, import, or recommendation uses one. The count resets each day, and your remaining allowance is shown in Settings.

Bring your own key (BYOK) for unlimited use

Want to go beyond the free allowance right now? Add your own AI provider key:

1. Get a free API key from a supported provider (Google Gemini by default; Groq and others also work).
2. Open Settings and find the AI section.
3. Choose your provider and paste your key.
4. Save. With your own key, your AI use is no longer capped by the daily allowance.

Your key is encrypted at rest and never shown back to you or sent to your browser.

Privacy

When you use an AI feature, the relevant profile or résumé text is sent to the AI provider to generate a result, under that provider’s terms. If privacy is a priority, BYOK with a provider you trust puts you in control. See our Privacy Policy for details.

A paid plan is coming

A subscription option is planned that will raise the allowance without needing your own key — and remove ads. Until then, the free allowance plus BYOK covers everything.
