Extension
Install and use the browser extension
Add the Chrome or Firefox extension and capture job postings straight onto your Board with one click.
The Job Umbrella browser extension reads a job posting from the page you are on. One click adds it to your Board, with the full description. It works on Chrome and Firefox.
1. Install the extension
Add Job Umbrella from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. After it installs, the Job Umbrella icon appears in your browser toolbar.
2. Connect it to your account
- Open Settings and find the Browser extension section.
- Create a new token and copy it. It is shown one time only.
- Click the extension icon, open its options, and paste two things: your app URL (
https://jobumbrella.com) and the token. - Save. The extension is now linked to your account.
You do this one time. You can revoke a token at any time from Settings.
3. Capture a job
- Open a job posting on a supported site (LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, and many more).
- Click the Job Umbrella extension icon.
- Review the fields it pulled — title, company, location, description.
- Click Add to Job Umbrella. The job appears on your Board instantly.
Why capture the description?
The description the extension captures is what the resume customizer reads to tailor a resume to that role, and what the Fit check measures against. Capture first, then customize. You copy and paste nothing.
Privacy
The extension reads the page only after you click the button. It sends the job details and your token to your Job Umbrella account and to nowhere else. It does not read your browsing history, your other tabs, or any site you did not capture from. See Your data, your control.
Troubleshooting
- If nothing is added, check the app URL and the token in the extension options.
- If the token stopped working, someone revoked it. Create a new one in Settings.
- If the fields look thin on an unusual site, edit the job after you add it.
